Welcome to the Eurovision Yearbook. The Complete & Independent Guide to the greatest Song Contest!

Welcome to our redesigned website for our popular annual book analysing the phenomenon that is the Eurovision Song Contest. We wanted to make it easier to see what our Eurovision Yearbook contains each year and to order either paperback or hardcover easily and securely. We have published our Eurovision book each year since 2008, apart from 2020 due to the cancellation of the Contest because of Covid-19.

Our Eurovision book has undergone a small name change in 2022, you can still find it using "The Complete & Independent Guide to the Eurovision Song Contest" but the book will now also be known as the easier to remember "Eurovision Yearbook", so that it emphasises the statistical content more clearly.

So what does the Eurovision Yearbook contain?

Every statistic imaginable! Over 330 pages of historical records and analysis of voting, divided into three main sections:

Section One

Qualification for Eurovision for the current year. We look at each country's qualification process, whether by internal selection or by national competition. Where a national broadcaster has held a competition to select their artist and song, we give details of how the competition was organised, the points or voting percentages given to the top 3 and a brief profile of the winning performer.

Section Two

Contest Details and Voting Record. A full record of every Contest since 1956. So for each year we list the artists, the songwriters and composers. Then the points awarded by each country to each performer in table format. We include the semi-final details for each year since they were introduced, and now we have separate points given by each country's jury and public we show separate voting tables for both, and that's for the two semi-finals and the final for the current year. A complete record of every point awarded. We've all experienced the excitement of the announcement of the public voting results since the innovation of the separate points scoring, and next in this section we have a round-by-round record of the scoreboard to show how each country moved up and down the leaderboard as the points are announced. Finally in this section the Yearbook lists every country's Eurovision entry in country alphabetical order so you can look up any artist and see their performance in semi-finals and final.

Section Three

Here's where the data really gets crunched! As well as the simple records such as most successful and least successful countries, whether internally selected artists do better than those who qualify through national competitions, winning margins, how well (and more commonly, how badly) the Big 5 perform, languages songs have been performed in and which type of act generally does best, we do a deep dive into complex statistical analysis and include data on average points received for each position in the running order since 1975, the closest and most one-sided voting relationships, how points awarded by juries differ from those given by the public, geographical and bloc voting, and finally the book contains every country's voting record in every Contest as a percentage of the maximum possible points that could be awarded and the number of times any votes have been given and how many maximum 12 points have been given to all the other countries, both in semi-finals and finals. If you're curious about whether some countries always favour others, this is the section for you!
